About FilBen Group

The Filaski and Benenson families have been leaders in senior living for over 40 years. Leveraging their decades of experience and combined knowledge of the healthcare continuum and real estate development, FilBen Group builds, owns and operates senior housing and healthcare facilities throughout the New York metropolitan area.

FilBen provides the full spectrum of development and management services, including site selection, development, construction and project management, as well as healthcare program development and operation. To date, the principals have built senior housing facilities that provide over 5,000 beds. In addition to constructing and operating their own facilities, FilBen assists other providers in developing healthcare and other senior programs.

My mother is a resident of Braemar's Memory Care Unit, and has been for almost 6 years. I watch closely and visit often. If I see something that concerns me, I speak up. I have been very pleased with her care but, more importantly, Mom seems satisfied in her surroundings.

I wanted to wait a few months so I could accurately critique the place at every level. We were trying to find a place for my mother. My wife and I started the tour at Braemar. Danielle ( our gracious host) was amazing. She didn’t push, rush or side step any questions. She even met me in the Bronx 75 miles away to discuss my mother. We finally got her in the last week of July. She didn’t want to leave the Bronx where she lived for 95 years. We tried everything to make her go someplace safer. We didn’t want a nursing home and Braemar was the perfect solution. We knew there would be an adjustment but unsure of the outcome. Well the outcome was fantastic. She was assigned an eating table with three lovely ladies who had a lot in common. The rest is now history. She’s busy all the time and absolutely loves the staff. There were some minor bumps in the road at the beginning, but given the times we live in and the shortage of health professionals we felt confident that they always have the patrons who live there first at hand. My wife and I are on a first name basis with most of the staff. My mom loves the food and the idea of her ordering a burger if desired surely makes her day. In closing, our family feels that my mother kept her dignity, feels 10 years younger and is smiling at a time where most aren’t. My mom was transferred to Braemar to be closer to all of us. The staff made the transition very pleasant! My mom really likes it there and says that the food is very good! The staff is very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

Dad has relocated from another facility in port jervis and had been neglected and so miserable. He had begged for years to go to braemar and they finally had bed available. He is so happy and is now finally getting the proper therapy he needs to rebuild the muscle that was lost while he stayed at the other facility. Dad is finally smiling. Braemar is beautiful and the other residents have all welcomed him and they all seem so happy and have raved about how wonderful they are treated. I can now sleep easy knowing my dad will be treated with respected and will be cared for like he deserves. Dad is no longer just a bed that is filled, but a person at Braemar!

My mom(96) and my sister (65 ) have been residents since June of 2018. The facility itself is fantastic, except for the elevators that can't fit 2 wheelchairs in them. The main problem is that they have been understaffed forever. I was there Monday and only 2 of the staff were working to take care of all of the residents. It's supposed to be 4 on duty. It took 45 minutes before they reached the room to assist my sister who needs help in the bathroom This situation is not unusual. I go to visit 3 times a week and it's always something Either the laundry is not being taken care of or no one shows up to give them their showers or nobody answers the call for help. I have spoken to 'management' on numerous occasions and nothing seems to work. Time to start looking for another residential alternative Sad but true.... Very disappointed.Since I originally posted this review much has changed at Braemar. The staff has been updated significantly. When my sister needs help they are knocking at the door within 10 minutes. She is a tier 5 resident and needs help for just about everything. So far so good. I am confident that this will continue. If you do have a concern with the care on any level, managements reaction is positive to alleviate all of your concerns. Please keep up the good work. It is appreciated and needed by the residents and family.
