  • Michael Benenson, Managing Director

    Michael Benenson has over 35 years experience in management and health care strategy consulting. As a NY State Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, he holds a Masters Degree from the Roth Graduate School of Business and has been published in over 25 books and periodicals. Michael serves as Executive Director of Braemar at Medford, Chairman of the CareNext Insurance Company, Chairman of the Sub Acute Network of New York, and President of Benenson & Associates, Inc. He has been an advisor to several groups, including the Moreland Act Commission on Nursing Homes and Residential Care Facilities, the Comprehensive Health Planning Agency, and the Advisory Council on Aging.
  • Richard Filaski, Managing Director

    Richard brings more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and construction to FilBen. He holds an MBA in Finance and an MS in Real Estate Investment from New York University. Richard has been responsible for the management of all facets of real estate development for the FilBen group and has worked with several government agencies on developing projects, including the U.S. Department of HUD, New York State HFA, New York State DHCR and IDA’s. He has also provided development services to large, not-for-profit sponsors in the New York Metropolitan area.
  • David Filaski, Managing Director

    David holds a degree in Economics from Wake Forest University and has over 20 years of experience in developing, financing, budgeting and constructing specialized housing. He has secured approvals for projects from several government agencies and currently oversees finances at the Braemar at Medford.
  • Joshua Benenson, Managing Director

    Joshua brings more than 17 years of financial forecasting and modeling knowledge to the FilBen team. His previous experience includes risk management and manager selection for hedge funds. He specializes in health care budgets and forecasts, and has worked on financing of over twenty ambulatory surgery centers. Joshua has been the manager of operations at Braemar at Medford since the property opened. He holds a B.A in Economics, with an emphasis in Finance, from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
  • Maryann Crenny, Administrator/Director, Operations

    Maryann holds a Masters in Health Care Administration from Long Island University-CW Post. She has over 10 years of experience in nursing home administration, long term, sub-acute and dementia care. She serves as guest lecturer at CW Post University, preparing professionals for the NYS Nursing Home Administrator Licensure Exam. Maryann is the administrator of FilBen’s Braemar properties and oversees the assisted living operations of FilBen properties.
  • Jessica Cotellese, Manager, Development

    Jessica holds an MS in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, with a focus on healthcare design and management. She has worked on the renovation and construction of various residential and commercial projects, including independent senior housing and assisted living residences. Jessica is responsible for all aspects of design management for FilBen properties.
  • Denise Howard, RN, Director, Operations

    Denise is a Legal Nurse Consultant with a focus on long-term care and assisted living. She has more than 30 years of health care experience, concentrating on long-term care, sub-acute care, short-term rehab and assisted living. In addition to serving as FilBen’s clinical consultant, Denise coordinates program development, as well as the opening of FilBen’s health care facilities.
  • Mhabell Medina, Manager, Operations

    Mhabell holds an A.S in Business Management with over 10 years experience in the healthcare industry. She joined the company from the Yale New Haven Hospital System. While with FilBen, Mhabell has been instrumental in setting up procedures within the business office. She has extensive experience in working with governmental agencies in billing capacities, and manages the accounts receivable and accounts payable departments as well. Mhabell’s knowledge of Medicaid billing and her ability to work with the local Social Security offices make her a valuable member of the FilBen team.
